J-FUNK: J-News

The main news for the month of Feb is that we have had to postpone the gig on the 26th of February.
Unfortunately there were a few issues with the promotion of the gig, so the best solution for everyone was to postpone the show - we are looking at a new date in April or May.

The most positive thing to come out of the postponement is that now we are almost certain that the new album "Meant To Be" will be ready for the gig - it wouldn't have been ready for the gig on the 26th.
It also gives myself & my brilliant musicians more time and more preparation for the big show!

In the meantime, please check out my latest blog entry by clicking on the "J-Blog" tab - there you will read some info on exactly where the album is at - I can also PROMISE you that next month you will be able to hear some samples of the new album!

Hello friends!
Thanks for your support in 2009, and thanks especially for your patience in hanging out for the new album!
It is well on the way to being finished - we will hopefully be ready to release in March at the very latest.
I can also tell you that the title of the album will be "Meant To Be", with the 1st single to be released shortly before the release of the album.
But we will keep you posted!
In the meantime, we are very much looking forward to presenting a brand new J-Funk show - our first in 18 months!
This will take place on Friday the 26th February at Pizza On The Park at Hyde Park Corner in London.
This show is being presented by the fabulous folk at Solar Radio, in association with Phil Driver and "Soul Unsigned" (www.soulunsigned.com).
We will present some brand new live music for you, so please make sure you come along and enjoy some funky music! Also performing on the night will be the excellent Richard Alexander Davis. Can't wait!
Anyway, I wish you every success in the new year, and look forward to seeing you on February 26th!

You may remember the title track from my album "Breakthru" being featured on the "Soul Unsigned Volume 2" compilation album - this album was created by the excellent DJ & founder of Soul Unsigned Records, Mr Phil Driver.
Phil has been recently interviewed by DJ Soulswede on "soulinterviews.com" website/station, where he reveals some background about his label & his compilation releases.
And I am very grateful in the fact that "Breakthru" has been selected as one of the tracks to feature in Phil's interview - a noteworthy selection considering the amount of music that Phil receives on a regular basis.

Back on September 29, 2008 one of London's premiere video production companies, Icoros Productions held a night of live music at The Bullet Bar, Camden Town. You might remember from last year when J-FUNK received some radio airplay on DJ Phil Driver's "Soul Unsigned" show in Sweden, Teneriffe, New York and London. Soul Unsigned also runs its own record label, and they have just released their 2nd "Soul Unsigned" compilation album, featuring a number of great artists. J-FUNK's track "Breakthru" has been selected to feature on this fantastic compilation of excellent songs. The album is available for purchase from CD Baby - please click on the CD cover below! One of the greatest achievements from 2008 was the success of winning an online talent search run by Ismael Records - you can read all about this upcoming independent record label here. I am pleased to announce that J-FUNK has officially signed a contract with Ismael Records! Work will begin immediately on a brand new album to be released around the middle of the year. Stay tuned for more news as it comes to hand!!

Well 2008 was quite a year. First and foremost, I'd like to sincerely and gratefully thank you all for your support in 2008 - albums were sold, new fans jumped on board. But I think the most pleasing aspect was being able to perform live for you, with my fantastic band - whom I'd also like to thank sincerely.
We had great shows at The Watershed, Babalou, The Old Explorer (Sunshine Party!), The Pigalle Club & The Bullet Bar. We certainly came a long way from solo gigs in 2007, to a 9 piece live band in 2008!! There will be more live shows in the 2nd half of 2009 - looking forward to seeing you all then!! Once again - THANK YOU. Peace & blessings to you all.
